For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17

Presumed Innocent Review and Giveaway April 15-25 Contest closed
By
Scott Turow

This is the first one of Scott Turow’s books I have read. The hugely anticipated sequel to the genre-defining, landmark bestseller Presumed Innocent will be released May 4, 2010.

"Presumed Innocent is an achievement of a high order — with marvelous control and touch, an awesome capacity to assemble and dispense (and sometimes withhold) evidence, and a cast of characters who are dismayingly credible. Nobody who picks it up is going to lay it down lightly. —Wallace Stegner"

A beautiful lawyer from the prosecuting attorney’s office is raped and murdered. Rusty Sabich is chief deputy prosecutor for Kindle County, and his boss Raymond Horgan is up for re-election. Rusty is handling the investigation of the murder despite the conflict that only he is aware of with his friend, Dan Lipramzer investigating the crime. They first focus on convicted sex offenders that Carolyn helped to prosecute. Then Rusty learns that his boss Horgan had a brief relationship with Carolyn. Meanwhile Rusty's marriage is in a shambles as his wife Barbara knows about his affair. As evidence surfaces Rusty he is arrested for the killing. But is Rusty guilty? Or will someone else be found to have done the terrible crime.

Instead of being a predictable legal thriller, like some others I have read, this great murder mystery has plenty of twists and turns through its pages as you read.

The Moon Looked Down

By Dorothy Garlock

The story unfolds as Sophie Heller heard someone yelling FIRE! FIRE! She awoke from her dream and started looking for her family. They were outside as the barn was burning.

The family had immigrated to America from Germany trying to escape the Nazis before Hiltler took over Germany before World War 2.

As the family all gets outside they are trying to find out what started the fire and three hooded men came around the house and said they were going to run the Nazis from their town. Some fighting took place and the barn burn to the ground.

Sophie worked at the newspaper in Victory, Illinois and her father was a farmer.

Cole Ambrose came back to town to become the math teacher in the local high school, as he had been gone for fifteen years. He had been a cripple all his life, but he met Sophie in the store and thought she was so pretty. He became determined to help the family find out who burned their barn.

There are fights, love and everything in between in this story. There is some explicated sex and some words that offended me but I read the book, as it really is a great story.

A Lady Like Sara written by Margaret Brownley

This Book was the greatest.
The things that Sara got into was so funny. When she met up with the Precher Man while handcuffed to a lawman turned into one great book

This is my first time reading Margaret Browney's books and I want more of them.

Sara took the preacher by storm and the town also.

She wanted to change her way of life but didn't want to be disloyal to her brothers, they were all the family she had. But she may decide to stop following her brothers when she had a choice to make, when her life is on the line.
If you love good clean Christian Fiction then this is a must read!

This book was supplied to me free of charge and did not ask that I do a positive review by Thomas Nelson publishing company

NO GREATER LOVE book giveaway April 5-10

CONTEST IS CLOSED!!!!
Winner will be announced as soon as I hear form them.
 (Extreme Devotion Series)
By Kathi Macias

My Review:

The book setting is in 1989 in South Africa. Chioma and her younger brother Masozi were orphaned when both their parents had been killed by white men, so she hated any white man and was determined to get even with whites, male, female or children she didn’t care.

A Christian white family had taken them in and given then a place to live and work.
She was falling in love with Andrew the son of her boss and he was a blue eyed, and a white man.
She knew she had to stop those feelings for him, as she knew the black rebels would never go for that.

Africa is a place that when I see it on the news they really have a hard life. So as I got into story, I never knew what would happen next as the black rebels tired to fight for their rights in their land.
As you read this book you will be in an adventure wondering what will happen next and where will Chioma be and what will happen between she and Andrew.

This is the first of four novels in the Extreme Devotion Series from New Hope Publishers.

This book was furnished by Kathi Macais, but, the review is in no way obligated by the author.

For the book giveaway, you must be a follower of my blog, leave a comment that you want to be entered and be sure to leave your email address so I can get in touch with you.  The contest will close April 10th at 7PM EST, the winner will be notified and have 24 hours in which to response, if there is no response then another winner will be chosen.

Blood Ransom by Lisa Harris

Lisa Harris lives in Mozambique, Africa with her family.  They serve as missiontaries and don't have all the conforts that we do here in the states.
She has been writting ficion and nonfiction since 2000 and has more than fifteen novels and novellas in print.

 MY REVIEW:

Natalie Sinclair is working to help with diseases in Africa and in the village of Republic of Shambizao when she meets a long time school mate of hers, Dr. Chat Talcott.  They are both trying to help the people in any way they can.
But, someone don't want them to find our what is going on in the country but Natalie is determined to do so.
She works with Steve and Patrick but finds out that the two men can not be trusted.
She and Chad have a thing going between them and start working together.

But someone is trying to stop them from fining out and it is time for a new election for the president.  It seems as everywhere they turn they get into trouble or someone gets killed.

My thoughts:  I really liked this blook and the more you get into it the better it gets.  It keeps you wondering who will be next in getting killed and what will happen at the election.
One of Lisa's best books I think.  So go buy a copy and read all about the turmoil that is going on in Africa.
